New Metal Detector Day!

There is nothing like a new metal detector! The pain of loosing my Minelab E-Trac Metal Detector is almost numbed.  Although, the fact that I had two of my websites on the metal detector, my name and phone number, I am now considering the metal detector stolen.  Either way, I have to admit it was my mistake.  One I will never make again.

However, I am really impressed with the Garrett Treasure Hound Depth Multiplier w/ EagleEye Pinpointing for GTI 2500 Metal maybe loosing my etrak was for a reason!

First, the Garrett GTI 2500 Metal Detector was truly a turn on and go metal detector.  I really like this package I purchased because with the larger coil, I am picking up items that both my Bounty Hunter QD2GWP Quick Draw II Metal Detector and my Minelab E-Trac Metal Detectorl missed.  But, just remember, nothing is ever hunted out!  Regardless, I am breathing a sigh of relief because I was worried I would be taking a huge step backwards going from Minelab to Garrett, but now I am thinking it was more of a sideways step.  I can live with that, especially with the addition of having two standard coils and the Garrett Treasure Hound Depth Multiplier w/ EagleEye Pinpointing for GTI 2500 Metal 1611800  That is simply amazing.  I tested it in my backyard where I know things are buried like the telephone line and the electric line to my garage I buried a few years back.  It was shockingly efficient!

I am really excited because I have one great hunt location that I know this will pay off!  Even if I don’t find anything, I can rest at night knowing I turned over every stone and reached as far down as my capital allowed.

I will try to get some videos up of the new machine in action here late next week!

Montana Moss Agate Scraper I Found in my Backyard Last Year

Today I went to Rocks & Things here in Princeton, MN. We are really blessed to have such a great shop so close. I really need to take more advantage of this great shop.

I had stopped in yesterday and purchased a rock bar. I was made aware that there is a need for heat treating stone for the local knappers. It caught me off guard because it fits with me and what I am doing so well, that I went home and studied up on heat treating knapping stone. My ceramic kiln will work perfectly and I just need to discern the type of stone and the temperature needed to heat treat the stone for beautiful strong and resilient knapped arrow head and knife items.

So I went back in today and brought some of my rock finds that I pick up while metal detecting. I also took in my scraper I found in my back field to see what Val the store owner of Rocks & Things had to say about it.

Well, Val loved it and knew right away that it was made from Montana Moss Agate and must of been carried some 600 miles from Yellowstone or Montana. I wonder what happened in my back field that this great work of art was dropped literally in my backyard. I keep finding stone tools and artifacts in my backyard and it just goes to prove that this has been a great place to live for a long, long time!

Val also owns Minnesota Lapidary Supply also in Princeton. Val is a great resource!
